  1. The Monday morning class takes place at the Methodist Church Hall on Fishers Lane, Charlbury, OX7 3RX. This class can also be attended on a drop-in basis at £8.50.
  2. General classes are open to beginners and those with some experience. Beginners classes are for beginners and also for those who want a shorter, more gentle class.

Location of classes

Apart from the Monday morning class, the classes take place at the Charlbury Yoga Studio which is located adjacent to St Diuma's House, Park Street, Charlbury, OX7 3PT. Call 01608 819049 or e-mail for directions or see a map here. (There is parking for four cars on the drive or you can park on the hill up towards Cornbury Park.)
 

Term dates

Term 1: starts on Monday 13th September 2010 and runs for six weeks, finishing on Thursday 23rd October 2010.

Term 2: starts on Monday 1st November 2010 and runs for seven weeks, finishing on Thursday 16th December 2010.
 

Cost of classes

Classes are £8 for a 90 minute class or £6 for a 60 minute class and are payable by term in advance. The Monday morning class can be attended on a drop-in basis at £8.50 per class. There is a reduction of £1 per class as a concessionary rate.

Term 1: £48 (for 6 ninety-minute classes) or £36 (for 6 sixty-minute classes)

Term 2: £56 (for 7 ninety-minute classes) or £42 (for 7 sixty-minute classes)


Private classes

Children's classes

There are children's classes on approximately a monthly basis on a Sunday morning 11-12.00pm. The cost is £4 per child. The dates for terms 1 and 2 are 3rd October, 31st October and 28th November. Please e-mail or call 01608 819049 for more details and to book your place.
 

What to expect

Iyengar Yoga classes are suitable for any adult age and all levels of fitness - you do not have to be flexible to practise yoga. You must however inform me of any injuries or medical conditions prior to starting a class. Please do not have a large meal before a class (ideally leave four hours to digest a full meal) nor have a drink immediately before (or during!) a class.

A class will involve a variety of different postures - standing, sitting, inverted and relaxing. Iyengar Yoga is a strong exercise but emphasis is placed on precision and safety.

Simple props are used such as blocks and belts to help one achieve improvement in certain postures. The class is performed with bare feet and clothing that does not impede movement is recommended. The Charlbury Yoga Studio is fully equipped so you do not need to bring a mat or any props with you.
